Dental emergencies can happen at any time, from sudden toothache to a broken tooth or lost filling. We reserve appointment slots for emergencies and aim to see you as soon as possible, often on the same day.
Our practice is on Warren Road in Hopton-on-Sea, on the coast between Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft and just down the road from Gorleston, so it's within easy reach of all three.
You don't need to be registered with us. We see patients from Hopton, Great Yarmouth, Gorleston, Bradwell, Belton, Caister-on-Sea, Acle, Corton, Lowestoft, Norwich and the surrounding areas.
Please note: we are a private practice, so emergency appointments are £80 and we cannot offer NHS emergency treatment. For NHS urgent dental care, call NHS 111.

How to get an emergency appointment
Call 01493 543144. Emergency slots fill up early, so please call as soon as we open. You can also book online, although not every available slot is shown online.
Any treatment beyond the emergency examination is extra, and we'll explain the cost before we start.
What's included in an emergency appointment
Our £80 emergency appointment fee covers:
- An emergency dental examination
- Any x-rays needed
Coming from Great Yarmouth, Gorleston or Lowestoft
Great Yarmouth and Gorleston: we're just south along the coast in Hopton-on-Sea, an easy drive down the A47.
Lowestoft and Corton: we're just over the Suffolk border on the Norfolk side, a straightforward trip up the coast road.
We also regularly see emergency patients from Bradwell, Belton, Caister-on-Sea, Oulton Broad and Beccles.
Same-day treatment
We aim to treat emergencies on the same day. For more complex cases, we stabilise the problem and rebook you for the permanent treatment.
Emergency slots fill up early. Please call us as soon as we open for the best chance of a same-day appointment.
After your emergency visit
As well as dealing with the immediate problem, we give you aftercare instructions, recommend any further treatment you may need, and are here for any questions afterwards.
Common questions
What counts as a dental emergency?
Severe toothache, broken or knocked-out teeth, dental abscesses, swelling, trauma, or lost fillings and crowns that are causing pain. If you're not sure, call reception on 01493 543144 and we'll help.
Can I get emergency treatment as a new patient?
Yes. You don't need to be registered with Smile Dental Clinic. Call our reception team and they'll arrange an appointment.
Can I get a same-day appointment?
We aim to offer same-day emergency appointments whenever possible. Calling early in the day gives you the best chance.
Will my treatment be finished on the same day?
Where possible, we complete treatment or stabilise the problem at your emergency visit. In complex cases we arrange follow-up care.
How can I pay?
We are a cashless clinic. We accept major credit and debit cards, Google Pay and Apple Pay.
